Oliekaj
Quay 906, 907
Multifunction quay with facilities for ex-pipe bunkering
The new Oliekaj quay is a multifunctional quay that fits well with the flexibility the Port of Thyboron is renowned for. It increases the port’s quay capacity by 130 metres for bunkering, industrial fishing vessels and offshore supply vessels.
The quay is used extensively for high capacity bunkering, and has proven to be ideal for offshore supply vessels working in the North Sea. The quay is also good for handling and distributing bulk cargo, as trucks have easy access to and from the quay, and because there are bridge scales located on the road to and from this area of the port.
Simple access to new quay
The new Oliekaj quay lies in a straight line from the entrance to the Port of Thyboron. Entering the port is simple and straightforward, and the water depth is an impressive 9 metres.
Supplies
There is easy access to water, electricity and other supplies along the entire quay, and facilities for disposing of slop oil and ship waste.
Safety
The quay is equipped with a rescue station and Sea-Safe rescue ladders with LED lights for easy recognition in the dark, and is an ISPS-compliant area.

Bunkering
Large vessels needing large quantities of bunker fuel can now refuel efficiently at the Port of Thyboron. In connection with the construction of the new Oliekaj quay at the Port of Thyboron, Nordic Marine Oil A/S installed a high-speed supply facility for ex-pipe bunkering of large vessels. The world’s largest split hopper suction dredger Njord R was the first vessel to refuel at the new facility in Thyboron. The capacity is continuous bunkering at 1,500 l/min until the vessel is filled.
Unloading liquid bulk cargo
Delivering fuel oil to Nordic Marine Oil’s tank system in Thyboron is now a smooth and simple operation. Previously, the oil had to be discharged in two places – in front of the fishmeal factory TripleNine A/S at the discharging quays, and behind the fishmeal factory on Tobiskaj to supply the entire oil tank installations. During the construction of Oliekaj and the renovation of the quay in front of TripleNine A/S, the entire tank installation has been connected to an extensive network of pipes. This means that it is now possible for Nordic Marine Oil to fill up all its tanks from one and the same place – the new Oliekaj.
This offers more flexibility in the choice of vessels supplying bunker fuel to Thyboron, as the simpler access conditions mean that larger vessels can be used, and today the storing of bunker fuel at the port is a much faster and simpler operation.
Extra quay capacity for industrial fishermen
Safety
The new Oliekaj quay is equipped with yellow HI-VIS Sea-Safe rescue ladders, with LED lights to make them easy to locate in the dark.
And fenders for very large vessels.
